in terms of analogies i always found the traffic light at a pedestrian crossing with its button i am supposed to push and my sense of empowerment in a state-sized democratic system, quite intriguing.

i have such a hard time believing that me, puny individual, pressing a button on a 4-lane street in the middle of the town is supposed to stop 150 SUVs for a minute. this is just not how things work … i believe. but maybe it is an interesting experiment trying to get to the bottom of this. i can see myself observing and interacting with a traffic light for one day, and through scientific thoroughness and bookkeeping, trying to understand my influence on the traffic guidance system. maybe i ll regain some trust into our democracy after all …
